I became a second-career teacher in 2010. I taught upper grades at Chabot Elementary (OUSD), Peralta Elementary (OUSD), and Aurora School (Independent) before transitioning to one-on-one tutoring. I have worked with students in grades 3 through 8 in math and language arts. In math, my focus is on strengthening number sense, deepening understanding of math concepts and procedures, and building student confidence. In language arts, I work to strengthen decoding and reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, content generation, and editing.

 

In all subjects, I emphasize thinking habits and metacognitive strategies, and tailor my approach to meet each student exactly where they are and adapt to their individual learning needs.
